I basically have the same problem, using kernel 2.6.27-4-generic. My operating systems are installed on an IDE drive, which is supposed to be /dev/sda, other than that I have a SATA drive for storage which is supposed to be /dev/sdb. What happens now is that the drive order sometimes changes when I reboot my computer, sometimes the IDE drive is sda and sometimes the SATA drive is. This makes fstab fail 'cause I don't use UUIDs.
