The current wallpaper is tasteless, ugly, and gives the wrong impression to someone who is trying Ubuntu for the first time. The current choice of the wallpaper conveys a message of "unprofessional" quality that will cause many first timers to steer clear of even trying Ubuntu. There are countless better choices out there, even just within the Ibex community art, and the Gnome-art pages.
