I have to confess I'm a layperson in case of ubuntu. I made a update to beta from my wubi-installation, just to try if there is a solution of the wlan problems with rl2500-cards. No I'm not using any kind of network disks. I made my installation on a partition on a stand alone notebook with a lan-internet conection. After updating the system the automatic procedure went on to reboot the system, but failed with above message to shut-down. In addition to that problem the new beta didnt detect my wlan pcmcia card (rl2500-chipset) correctly (better there were some connection indicated at the network manager but I got no wlan connection, a deinstallation of the network manager and a . This was a step back because ubuntu 8.04.1 at least connected to the internet, even if the connect was very unstable and slow (1Mb/s).
