I think I've FINALLY found a answer!!! I have been following bug#246269 & the post(s) #47 by captn & #62 by chris_c "seems" to have fixed the problem. Prior to this I tried both -5 & -6 kernels & had soild BIOS warnings until desktop. I had noted captn's fix, but it had not worked until I used 1024x768p-60 that chris_c had used. Looks like I needed to fully spec the settings to make it all work again. I have tried it with "quiet splash" first & it worked the first time in quite a while....I am now going to "bite the bullet" & try it with just "splash" to see if it still works. I will report pass or fail within the hour.
