Ok, it's likely that you installed the driver through the NVIDIA installer from
NVIDIA's website in the past thus breaking your Ubuntu installation. Try typing
the following command:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall libgl1-mesa-glx xserver-xorg-core
** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Invalid
