Yes, switching to the .ppd file that ships with Intrepid causes the problem to manifest. I received an update to HPLIP yesterday that also caused the problem to manifest, but replacing Interpid's .ppd with Hardy's .ppd corrects the problem. I should reiterate that I see the problem when printing documents from Text Editor and Gnucash's check printing. I haven't really tested any other applications, but will do so if you think that might be helpful.
