I just noticed this problem on my Dell Inspiron 6400/E1505 (running
Kubuntu - Intrepid Beta). It would freeze shortly after the splash
screen comes up, so I cold rebooted and edited the boot options and
removed "quiet" so I can see where it freezes. Suprisingly enough it
booted up OK. I rebooted again without touching the boot options and
once again it froze. Tried once again removing "quiet" and I could see
it freezes on "Loading hardware drivers". It seems to be intermittent. I
only noticed this behaviour after performing an update on 70 odd
packages and it asked me to reboot, but since I use standby a lot, the
problem may not be related to the update.
