Two days ago I reported that my ethernet card was failing to work with intrepid 
but, as I was about to install the patched module that captn kindly provided 
here, I noticed that it suddenly started to work flawlessly.
I don't see anything that I could have done in the meantime that would have 
changed the situation, except accepting some recommended package updates, but I 
don't remember them including the kernel, at least not at this point in time.

I'm glad it works now, but I'm afraid I don't know what to make of this in the 
context of the bug report.
