Sorry, i did not notice that one of the comments saying this should be
fixed was finally from an Ubuntu developer, more than a year after a
bug in boot loader caused solely by Ubuntu packaging was marked as
high priority. My attention span is apparently somewhat limited.

Thanks for committing a fix finally.

It took about 1.5 year which is somewhat long for what I imagine as
"high priority" but perhaps it will get into Intrepid final at least
which would be nice.

Still this is not really trolling as there is that evms bug with
similar impact that was only resolved by obsolescence of all Ubuntu
systems carrying it.

I guess it is somebody else who decides which bugs are
release-critical and should be fixed but that does not lessen the
number of use-critical-bug years present in Ubuntu.
