I agree I think the error message should to specify in some way that the
command will need to be run with superuser privileges.

Would you reproduce this error and then run the command 'xprop | grep
WM_CLASS' in a terminal. You will get crosshairs that you can then
select the error message with. The terminal will tell you what
application the error message dialogue window comes from. Its most
likely update-manager but just to be sure. Then you can mark what
package this effects instead of the general ubuntu that it is marked as
now and we can set the status to confirmed.
