Add my report to this thread. With Intrepid update this week that disabled ath5k driver in linux- image-2.6.27-7-generic I followed suggested instructions to install linux-backports-modules to restore ath5k driver.
Currently running linux-image-2.6.27-7-generic version 2.6.27-7.14 & linux-backports-modules-2.6.27-7-generic version 2.6.27-7.4 Upon boot up to GDM login prompt all appears ok. I moved to a text terminal and signed in and verified that I had wireless connectivity. I had IP address and could ping my outside gateway. I then signed in with GDM and lost connectivity. Connectivity seems to be sporadic and slow. It appears the interface is bouncing up and down although /var/log/messages is not reflecting this. Pinging my router shows PING 10.0.0.254 (10.0.0.254) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 10.0.0.254: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=214 ms 64 bytes from 10.0.0.254: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=147 ms 64 bytes from 10.0.0.254: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=677 ms ^C --- 10.0.0.254 ping statistics --- 13 packets transmitted, 3 received, 76% packet loss, time 19034ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 147.884/346.778/677.596/235.516 ms which is consistent with the erratic interface behavior described above. This interface worked with the former linux-image-2.6.27-7-generic package and works now with NDISWRAPPER. ** Attachment added: "lspci output" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18942976/lspci.txt -- Kernel update to 2.6.27-7.14 broke atheros wireless on acer aspire one https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/289100 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
