Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, I never got a chance to have a
running X server.

But while we're here, have you gotten Wifi to work on this machine? I
tried the NDIS wrapper that reports the hardware present but never uses
the driver in hardware proprietary drivers.

"Support for Atheros 802.11 wireless LAN cards: status: "in use";
enabled: unchecked.

Checking that brings status: "needs computer restart". Rebooting has no
effect.
