Looking at the error_log, I see that printing via kpdf sets the content type to application/postscript, which is obviously wrong for a PDF. Printing via lpr sets the content type to application/pdf. As a consequence, the job 117 (kpdf) is only filtered by pstops whereas the job 118 (lpr) is filtered by pdftops and pstops. I guess this is the reason why it doesn't print. The printer actually needs real postscript.
