Last news (02.11.2008 - 16h55): I decided to install a newer version of the madwifi driver as mentioned above. I uninstalled the current madwifi driver (madwifi- hal-0.10.5.6-r3835-20080801.tar.gz) and looked for a more recent snapshot on the http://snapshots.madwifi.org/.
Bad luck, the site is down. Not possible to test then. I reinstalled the previous version from August. I saw that a new component / driver named ath5k will be incorporated into the Intrepid Ibex release. I think I will wait for this version and make the tests then.
