I have a fresh install of ubuntu intrepid and seem to have the same
problem with the monitor modem applet. I use it with the remix
interface.
These are the applet responses: (my language setting is German)
1) resting the mouse pointer over it, it shows (in English): "Could not get
connection time"
2)left clicking on it: no response at all
3)right clicking on it:
- Activate and Deactivate are greyed out and cannot be selected
- clicking properties: "Das Programm zum Einstellen der Netzwerkverbindungen
konnte nicht gestartet werden. Bitte
überprüfen Sie, dass es im richtigen Pfad installiert ist und das es die
notwendigen Zugriffsrechte besitzt"
(approx: the program to set network connections cannot be started. Please
check the it is installed in the proper path
and you have necessary access permissions)
Network connections on this computer via wired and wireless work well.
Also, using Gnome PPP I can dial out via the modem (USB modem zoom 3095)
and can make a connection (doesn't help much, though, because connection
fails immediately, which I had reported elsewhere).
Yes, there are still places, where you need a modem, please help!
