I've solved one of my problems. My PCI nVidia card was preventing any of the Ubuntu installers from working (even the alternate installer). Once I removed that video card, my integrated video card seemed to work fine, and the 8.04 installer worked again. However, upon trying the 8.10 installer (bootable CD), it gives me a ATA2 ErrNo -16 error and the installer stops working.
I'm using an old Dell 2350 right now, and I'm pretty sure this system hates Ubuntu (especially trying to upgrade to new versions). I wish that the upgrade to new versions of Ubuntu would fail more gracefully. It completely destroyed my computer. =( -- Upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10 failed and froze computer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/292378 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
