This bug is about opening .xls files using Gutsy 7.10 with gnumeric 1.7.11.
Files opened using gnumeric-gtk only.
gnumeric updates to 1.7.11-1ubuntu3.1 fixed the original bug. According to the
changelog:

@ Arnaud Blouin : Yes, I am able to open the file using Intrepid 8.10 with
gnumeric 1.8.3
as well as in Xubuntu 7.10 using gnumeric 1.7.11-1ubuntu3.1 .
