IBM R40e Ubuntu 8.10 Screen brightness is low no matter what I try. The Fn Home and end have no effect. In fact, none of the keyboard controls for sound or video work. Tried using radeontool to switch light on - it has an effect but all or nothing and still dim when on. Putting the machine into hibernate or suspend makes even the power switch inoperable. Only way to get the machine back is to take the battery out! Makes no difference whether the machine is on battery or connected to power.
