Have you tried running fsck on the device/partition as recommended? Assuming
the device is still sdd1, plug it in, and check the device with
dmesg
or
sudo fdisk -l
Assuming sdd1, unmount it
sudo umount /dev/sdd1
Now fsck the partition
sudo fsck /dev/sdd1
Does it report errors? Can you fix them? After it is finished, does the
device mount normally?
