On Hardy clone your print queue with the "Copy" function in system- config-printer. Give the name "x" to the copy. Then run the commands
cupsctl FileDevice=yes cupsctl LogLevel=debug lpadmin -p x -v file:/tmp/printout Then print a job on x and wait for it to finish.
