I rebooted and when using the 2.6.27.10 kernel (by default; when not
making any GRUB selection), I get these errors:

Kernel panic - not synching: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown block(0,0)

(there is more text on the screen, but that's what looked the most
diagnostic and thus took notes on)
Restarting the computer and selecting the 2.6.27.8 Kernel again boots
fine.
Reinstalling 2.6.27.10 in Synaptic doesn't seem to fix the issue.
