You have a huge amount of this in your syslog, which eventually caused
the kernel to give up on writing to the hard disk:
Nov 8 00:02:22 ubuntu kernel: [4295077.239000] sd 0:0:0:0: SCSI error: return
code = 0x8000002
Nov 8 00:02:22 ubuntu kernel: [4295077.239000] sda: Current: sense key:
Aborted Command
Nov 8 00:02:22 ubuntu kernel: [4295077.239000] Additional sense: Scsi
parity error
Nov 8 00:02:22 ubuntu kernel: [4295077.239000] end_request: I/O error, dev
sda, sector 30418183
Nov 8 00:02:22 ubuntu kernel: [4295077.239000] Buffer I/O error on device
sda1, logical block 3802265
It may help to check whether the hard disk is old and in need of
replacement, to move the system to a cooler environment, or to check for
proper SCSI termination.
