Another thing to add: When I go to sound preferences I get the error 'audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink: Failed to connect: Connection refused' when I hit test.
This happens when it is set to ALSA, OSS, PulseAudio or Autodetect (or any other option!)
