I tried it with Ubuntu 8.04 i386 and Ubuntu 7.10 i386, and they both showed "-6:00" - as well as showing "CST" (Central Standard Time) instead of "CDT" (Central Daylight (savings) Time). Note: I didn't notice the CST/CDT part until I retried just now, but it makes sense now.
I guess I wasn't paying much attention at the time I installed Ubuntu 7.10 i386 on the 2nd of March of this year.
