I can confirm this problem. Running 2.6.27-9-generic #1 SMP Thu Nov 20 22:15:32 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux on an Intel DQ45CB (Intel Q45). Disabling HPET in the BIOS fixes the problem, but it would be good if it worked with HPET enabled too. ;)
