I can't figure out the status of this issue (never used Launchpad before). I just installed 8.10 (with the 2.6.27 kernel I guess) on a normal desktop box with 4GB RAM and only 3.25ish were detected by the kernel. I even tried mem=4G on the grub boot, but it seems to be ignored.
