I installed openSUSE on the machine and I ended up having to use the VESA option from the Live CD menu for the graphics card, and that seemed to be the only system to work so far. I haven't tried out DreamLinux or Mint but I'll have to give it a shot in the future (as soon as the download finishes and the image is burnt to a cd.) Thanks again for the help man.
