I tried the way Pawell said, and you can actually scann your fingers but
the GUI has to be launched as root (I don't know how to change the
permission for users for the fingerprint reader). And I don't know how
to use your fingerprints because no PAM service works for me. I use
Ubuntu 8.10, maybe you have to install some precise libpam-something
packages (I've tried some but none worked).

To Arthur Kuhon :
this wiki is only to use fprint packages and this project doesn't yet recognize 
the Upek TouchStrip (147e:1000).
