Please re-open, because this bug still exists in a fully upgraded version of 8.10 and can be easily replicated. Configure to use Compiz in the "Appearance" program. Un-install all Compiz related packages through "Synpatic Package Manager". Reboot and there is no window manager.
To fix: Before un-installing the Compiz packages, set to use "None" in the "Visual effects" section of the "Appearance" manager. If Compiz already removed, re-install and then do the above, then un- install again. -- After uninstalling Compiz no window manager starts on login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/196512 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
