@Will Taygan: Removing APE-Tags is actually quite easy with "exfalso"
and the "quodlibet-plugins". If you have in stalled both you can
activate the "APE to ID3" plugin in "exfalso" and tehn remove them with
a right click on the file selection.

Rhythmbox gives priority to APEv2 tags and won't display changes to ID3v2
