Hi guys, I took your suggestions and went ahead and typed acpi=noirq in the boot text file and it no longer freezes. I'm running a Compaq f700 with Intrepid v. 8.10, and it's 64 bit. No updates had fixed the problem previously, but this works. You probably already know this but when I was installing 8.10 64 bit I actually had to hold keys during the beginning of the installation. I'm assuming the screwed up kernel boots during the install, so if that's the case then it makes sense. Anyway, yeah good work guys. Keep it up, I'm a fairly new linux user and I'm diggin' it.
