** Description changed: Using the gl2 output, gmplayer sometimes (not always, but annoyingly often) causes an X lockup when its window is restored (de-minimized, or clicked to the foreground from behind another window). The whole screen will freeze, with only a black rectangle showing where the MPlayer window is supposed to be. At first I thought the whole system was hung, but I've discovered that there are Alt+SysRq+.. combinations that still work even when regular Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't anymore. So, today I was checking some log files after rebooting from such a crash, and hey, what do you know, there is some kind of error/trace in /var/log/messages (attached). + + [lspci] + 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: VIA Technologies, Inc.
