I have had a problem with sound in Jaunty alpha 3. There is no sound on
installation of both the 32 bit and 64 versions. I have an Audigy Card
and the motherboard sound is turned off in the BIOS. Trying the
suggestions above made no difference. The solution was to install gnome-
alsamixer. On the bottom panel both "Audigy Analog/Digital Output Jack"
and "External amplifier" were checked. By unchecking "Audigy
Analog/Digital Output Jack" leaving only "External amplifier" checked -
sound works OK.
I installed the 64 bit version of Jaunty this morning and the first
udates included ALSA-utils. Perhaps this needs looking at.
