No, I think a regular upgrade should do it. I use apt-get, and `apt-get update; apt-get upgrade` (or possibly `apt-get dist-upgrade`) is then enough. I guess the same is true with synaptic. This will replace your current driver (and limdrm-stuff which the driver depends upon).
