1) I tried first editiing the original xorg.conf, changing 'vesa' to
'savage'.

2) Then I tried the above way: booting with "text",  but not specifying
safe mode.

In each case, a compatible screen mode was not  found, and the X server
failed to start.

Here, I have attached the log file for the first case.
