I confirm this issue.

Executing command `dpkg-reconfigure ez-ipupdate' will make the daemon
start, but when the computer is restarted, the /var/run/ez-ipupdate/
folder is removed (I have no idea what or who does this) and ez-ipupdate
fails to create the pid file in that folder because the folder doesn't
exist (it doesn't create the folder either).

# Following line is added to /var/log/syslog
ez-ipupdate[4863]: could not create pid file /var/run/ez-ipupdate/default.pid 
(Bad file descriptor), exiting

I'm using Ubuntu 6.06 Desktop, 32-bit PC version.
