i discovered today that if i put my ear actually on the speaker i can hear music when played but very faint... i have checked every possible volume control in the system and all are unmuted and at max. I also followed some advice of adding a line to "/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base" i have added "options snd-hda-intel model=laptop" and "options snd-hda-intel model=3stack (something like that)" with no change in the sound.
