** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xorg

  Overview:

  * Version: Intrepid (8.10) RC i386 desktop installer
  * Video card: ATI Radeon 9600 XT (AGP) with two LCDs attached - one on VGA
and one on DVI

  * Captures from the installation will be attached shortly: dmesg, lspci,
  Xorg.0.log.

  Problem:

I used the Intrepid RC Desktop (i386) installation CD to begin
installation by selecting the option to test the LiveCD first rather
than just the installation. The LiveCD ran properly and I was able to
open up the installer program and enter all of my information using the
keyboard. Note that I have a Wacom Graphire 4 USB tablet installed that
did not work, which I am mentioning in case it is related. The
installation started and copied files and I left the room. When I
returned, the X error window was displayed on the screen.

  The error is as follows:
"The display server has been shut down about 6 times in the last 90 seconds.
It is likely that something bad is going on. Waiting for 2 minutes before
trying again on display :0.

  <OK>"

At this point I switched over to the first console and copied the debug
files off. When I select <OK>, I am dropped into the logging console
that has the last line sitting at "* Checking battery state... [OK]"

The same error occurred previously when selecting just the installation
option at boot. I do not have the logs for that, but can get them if
that would be helpful. I have not yet tried the alternate CD, as I seem
to be completely out of blank CDs. My video worked fine in Hardy with
  the "ati" driver.
