Hi Leann, enclose is a screenshot that is nearly identical to what I see, the only difference being in the mouse cursor (missing in the attached picture). Actually, I doubt that could be much helpful, as all works fine until I use the touchpad: I can switch to any window by pressing Alt+Tab, issue any command from the console, and even change virtual terminal by hitting Ctrl+Alt +Fn and get back. As I finally touch the touchpad, the desktop simply freezes with no change at all in what I see, and the capslock led starts blinking. Thereafter, the system is totally unresponsive and I have to manually switch the power off.
Regarding regression, the first time the kernel panic occurred I was using the freshly released Kubuntu Intrepid 8.10, with kernel 2.6.27-7. The same happened after any kernel upgrade up to 2.6.27-11. I have never tried this laptop with any previous Ubuntu release. I will soon give Jaunty a try and report here the results. Thank you for your time and consideration. ** Attachment added: "screenshot.png" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/21771168/screenshot.png -- [i965] kernel panic after touching touchpad https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/321972 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
