Could you please try the intrepid dpkg version in
https://edge.launchpad.net/~mvo/+archive

It should fix the issue, its a bug with inconsistency in the dpkg triggers 
database.
You will need to manually download it and then install it with dpkg -i

run: sudo dpkg --configure -a

+  3. instal lthe updated version of dpkg (with wget and dpkg -i) [exact url 
follows when the fix is published]
+  4. verify that it installs correctly and runs some pending trigger actions
+  5. run "sudo dpkg --configure -a" and verify that this works without error
