I might be wrong, but it seems that gnome-device-manager just identifies this by a property that isn't mandatory for all devices. In which case, i believe it is just a cosmetic issue. Incidentally, I got my information from http://people.freedesktop.org/~david/hal-spec/hal- spec.html#device-properties-button (I'm not sure how up-to-date this is though)
