GDM is still starting (start sound & checked process list from text tty), vesa driver works. Current xserver-xorg-video-radeon version: 1:6.9.0+git20081003.f9826a56-ubuntu2.1 Attached Xorg.0.log.old from the failed startup. Attached lspci -vvnn showing hardware details. Maybe related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/292609 ? Maybe invalid refresh rates/modeline issue? I will try starting with DRI disabled and report behaviour.
