** Description changed:

  I am trying to get a remote control working. It is an ATI Remote Wonder
  Plus which I believe is supposed to have been supported natively for a
  while now in the linux kernel.

  When I run dpkg-reconfigure lirc I get:

   * Stopping remote control daemon(s): LIRC
[fail]
   * Reloading kernel event manager... [ OK
]
  ls: cannot access /lib/modules/2.6.25-2-powerpc/kernel/ubuntu/lirc/: No such
file or directory
   * Loading LIRC modules [ OK
]
   * Unable to load LIRC kernel modules. Verify your
   * selected kernel modules in /etc/lirc/hardware.conf

  I am attaching the hardware.conf file
-
- perhaps the problem is that a different kernel is expected? I am using the
2.6.27-11-generic kernel though on a mac powerpc - I used the PPC alternate
install disk and applied the standard updates, which I assume is how I got the
2.6.27-11 generic kernel
- /lib/modules/2.6.27-11-generic/kernel/ubuntu/lirc/ and within it is a file
named «lirc_atiusb»
