I agree about upstream, it's just a matter of time before i or somebody
else tries to get it there again.

Bryce, thanks for queuing patch from #21. However, although It is better
than what was released with 1.5-2ubuntu5, i hope we can use the patch
from comment 28 or at least the one from comment 25 (assuming nobody is
going to try to email me at gmail.org based on typo in comments before
28: i'd rather not have to open an email account that i don't really
need and even if i did, i'd only check it once a year). Patch in #25 (as
well as 28) addresses some slight duplication and inconsistency that was
inadvertantly introduced by patch in #21 in a rush: nothing is broken in
#21, but #21 is just a tad sub-par, IMHO.

Just an FYI: I'm not in a rush for any intermediate release, so please
feel free to apply the updated patch at your convenience. I will check
in out once it's released: it was good to see that i no longer have to
tweak my installation manually to enjoy the keyboard layouts.
