I am sorry, but I have some trouble to understand your description and
what the problem is.
"the way apport is configured it gave me no choices. It would't let me
review" -> what did you see there, and what choices do you mean? If you
report a package installation failure (which you tried to do, for linux-
image-2.6.27-11-generic), then you can only choose between reporting it
or not.
What is "choice 6"?
Where did you enter your password? Into the local dialog box which said
that you need privileges to look at system crashes, or in the Launchpad
web interface for reporting bugs, where you need to log into Launchpad?
Maybe you can do some screenshots to illustrate the problem?
