Well, what I forgot to point out, is that /dev/sda1 /dev/sda2 etc still
exist. They should not exist, right? With my vol_id run above I just
wanted to show that the parent device is a recognised raid raw device.

You mentioned earlier having dropped a patch, which my patch in comment
48 would just reverse. However, when I look through /lib/udev/rules.d I
can't find anything dealing with raid members.

I don't know if the problem really is "that *udev* is running vol_id on
the partitions" but the result is that the raw device "partitions"
appear.
