Here is the output from startx > startx.log 2>&1 It is no help. I ordered some RS-232 to RJ-45 adapters so I can run a serial cable from the affected PC to another PC. I was going to order them next month, but I can use them for this. I will boot the affected PC with console=tty0 console=ttyS0,57600n8 and open hyperterminal on the other and try to see what is happening.
