Although this might be a user config issue, it is not obvious for the unexperienced user. Isn't that the main target of ubuntu, to work simply out of the box ? By the way it works simply out of the box for Windows XP and Vista. Unexperienced users who want to switch from windows to ubuntu might get stuck with this issue and switch back immediately to windows.
