I  have updated to 2.6.3 but it has made no difference at all to the
reported problem.

If any one or combination of these lines is remarked in the xorg.conf file
the system throws the error or fails to boot.

    Option      "DRI" "False"
    Option      "NoAccel" "True"
    Option      "AccelMethod" "UXA"
