Yes it does. I have installed the Sun java6 software (bin, jre, jdk and plugin
version 6-12-0ubuntu1) , and run
sudo update-java-alternatives --set java-6-sun
When I then started firefox, I confirmed that the sun plugin was being used,
then that the jigzone applet worked correctly.
